Youth Group

Wired....there are so many ways in which teens are "wired" these days.

Teens are constantly connected to the world around them through many different kinds of media.  From cell phones to social networking sites to portable media players, teens are always attached to the world.  They can’t seem to escape.

At Mt. Olive, we want our teens to be "wired" in a different way.  We want to teach them how to be wired to their heavenly Father.  Our goal is to show them how to lead Christ-like lives that center around serving God and serving others.

1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”  We want our youth to set the example for their peers through the way that they live their lives.  We encourage them to not act differently while they are at youth group….we want their entire lives to be centered around Christ, not just when they walk through the doors at Mt. Olive.

Who is the Youth Group for?

Did you catch that we often EAT a provided meal – we love food!!!

Special Events:

We also love to jump in the bus and travel to places outside of Central Illinois!  Our favorite trip is our annual youth camp called CDYC (Central District Youth Conference) to meet up with other teens from other Missionary churches.  The week is filled with worship twice a day, competitive sports competition, dramatic and musical performances, and private devotional time.  We meet on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.

In the winter we break away from the mundane with a ski trip, generally around New Years!  During the day we will hit the slopes and at night we gather together at a local hotel and eat, watch movies, swim, and enjoy being together as a group!

A message from Josh Catour, Youth Director: “My goal is to lead kids to live a life for Christ, no matter the age, I want the kids to realize that just because you are young doesn't mean you can’t live for Jesus, It’s not just for adults.  I also want to prepare the kids for adulthood.  My goal is to help and support the kids in any issue that may have, spiritual or otherwise while they are in the YG and beyond.”
